Indian farmers currently have access to only 380 active ingredients for crop protection, compared to 1,200 globally. This limited range, combined with evolving pest pressures and climate change, poses significant risks to crop yields and farmer incomes. CropLife India estimates annual crop losses of 10–35%, amounting to INR 2 lakh crore. Without regulatory reforms, farmers may struggle to combat these challenges effectively, potentially impacting food security and agricultural productivity.
